Happy Sunday Shark Families,
Coaches Corner:
Happy Father’s Day to all our Shark Dads! Thank you for everything you do! All your efforts and support are greatly appreciated! We had a great meet at home! The work we put in the pool every day pays off when we show up to compete. Even under pressure we should be able to do things well, no matter what, if we practice how we compete.
The theme for the week is "are you coachable?"
- Do you listen to the coaching provided?
- Do you make the changes?
- Are you being receptive?
- Asking questions if you don't understand?
- Are you working hard and showing up?
We have Coach Stefanie and Coach Graham starting this week, you can read more info on them both HERE. Let’s welcome them on deck! There will be some group coaching changes so come prepared for that!
~ Coach Leslie
"My best skill was that I was coachable. I was a sponge and aggressive to learn." - Michael Jordan
Swimmer of the Week:
6U
- Emma H - Emma quietly works hard every day! She swims with the 7/8’s and practices new strokes that she doesn't get to race, but she still does the work with a good attitude.
- Isaiah A - Isaiah has shown up to practice ready to work each day this week. He was able to listen and swim with any lane mate while swimming his best.
7/8
- Reece W - Reece is a tiny but mighty swimmer. She works hard in the pool and treats others with kindness. No matter what lane she is in she is able to focus and work her hardest. Coach is always impressed with her happy and positive attitude.
- David A - David works really hard at practice every day! He puts in a lot of effort and even goes when Coach forgets to send a group!
9/10
- Elena M - Elena works hard no matter what and is a good team player. Someone had to volunteer to move in her lane and no one volunteered but when asked to do so Elena did and still had a good attitude and worked hard and pushed through the practice. That shows great adaptability.
- Stryker B - Stryker showed great adaptability this week. He has been working with Coach on breaking some bad butterfly habits and pushed through some uncomfortable work. He always says, "yes coach" and is a great lane leader.
11/12
- Riley L - Riley has shown great strength in practice this week! She shows up ready and determined to face what is in front of her and challenges herself to do better every lap.
- Michael I - Even though Michael has been dealing with illness he has shown up to practice this week and pushed through as much as he could so he could be ready for the meet this weekend. This shows adaptability because he worked through an obstacle in his personal life in order to continue practicing and getting better.
13/14
- Darina D - Darina is a hard worker. She is always willing to go with the flow which makes her flexible and adaptable. Darina always asks what she can improve on.
- Matthew M - Matthew missed a week of swim because he was at camp and came back this week and worked really hard and pushed through all the practices pushing himself to improve. Matthew isn't letting anything get in his way.
15-18
- Lilly M - yardage at practice has been increasing but so has Lilly's confidence! Although practice has been getting harder recently, Lilly has pushed herself past her limits and worked hard to grow more and more each practice!
- Justin L - Justin has been working hard this week and challenging himself. He has worked on things that aren't his best or favorite and pushed through.
