Coaches Corner:

Thank you, families, for all your hard work at the meet this weekend. We truly could not do it without all of you! We were able to bump practice by 10 minutes so our littlest Sharks can get their fair share of water time. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We have one last meet before champs and I am so excited and proud of the progress I have seen in our swimmers. These next few weeks will be dedicated to preparing for champs both physically and mentally. Swimming can be a sport of milliseconds, and you have to work so hard for each one. But, we are not defined by the drops in time. We are defined by who we are in the pool. Are we working hard? Are we being good teammates? Are we being ethical swimmers? Are we getting enough sleep? Are we eating well? Are we drinking water? If you are giving it 100% then you are doing great and should be so proud of yourself!!

This week’s theme will be “the power within”. This is focusing on the things you can control and not external factors. Get enough sleep. Work hard at practice. Eat well. Drink water. Ask questions. Let your coach know what you think you need to work on. All those things that you are in control of will allow you to show up on meet days and know you have done all you can to succeed and you should be so proud of you!

The team tent area at the end of the meet did not look amazing with lots of stuff and trash left over that our deck tear down crew had to clean up. That is not acceptable. Make sure you leave everything better than you found it.

It is very hot and has been for some weeks. Please, make sure all swimmers have a water bottle on deck (not in their bag or with you) during every practice.

Swimmers of the Week:

6U

  • Jemmie D – Jemmie comes to practice with a mindset ready for swim. She always listens to instructions and is ready for any feedback.
  • Bradley J – Bradley comes to practice prepared to swim. He is great at applying the feedback that he is given.

7/8

  • Rainey G – Rainey has shown tremendous mental toughness for a little swimmer. Right before her relay was set to swim, she needed to use the bathroom but still swam her relay. What a great example for the theme of the week!
  • Jacob V – Jacob is very helpful during practice and always asks is there is anything he can improve on.

9/10

  • Riley Lewis– Riley comes to practice everyday and pushes through hard sets with no complaints. She shows mental toughness by not skipping parts of the sets and pushing through until the end.
  • Malachi M – Malachi has been putting in the work at practice this week to keep up with his teammates and finish through all parts of the set for the day.

11/12

  • Darina D – Darina is very focused during practice and takes correction very well.
  • Shabad S – Shabad has greatly improved at giving his full attention to coaches instructions as well as making sure fellow swimmers are listening. Shabad takes feedback like a champ and will apply it to the entire practice.

13/14

  • Lauren G – Lauren has been put in a lane that challenges her, she keeps up and puts in her best efforts to finish each set.
  • Justin L – Justin finishes each set with a positive attitude and pushes himself and his lane mates to keep working hard during difficult sets.

15/18

  • Savannah S – Savannah is a great lane leader and is always making sure her teammates are doing well!
