Sunrise Sharks News - Sharks Bytes 5/11/25

Coaches Corner:

First and foremost, I want to wish all of those who mother our swimmers a happy Mother’s Day! Thank you for all you do!

This week was a lot of hard work for our swimmers, and they rose to the occasion. Getting to Time Trials was about learning our strokes and being able to establish a time in each event. Going forward practice will focus on getting stronger, faster, and building a fun and dynamic team culture. This week’s theme is “the importance of showing up”. This doesn’t mean attendance, although that is always a plus, it means showing up with a good attitude and ready to work. It means showing up for yourself by putting in the work. It also means showing up for your teammates and being encouraging and supportive. I want to see your swimmers all “show up” this week every time they walk onto the pool deck.

I want to thank all of you who have taken the time to talk to me (electronically, over the phone or in person). All your feedback is important, and I hope to continue to keep the lines of communication open through the season. I am usually rushed between groups, and I do not mean to be short and maybe a little too direct. I just have swimmers to attend to. With Coach Lexi joining us in a couple of weeks I should be able to move from group to group and spend time with all the coaches and have some extra time for things that you may wish to share immediately.

A quick reminder that your child cannot be in the water if they have diarrhea or have had it in the last 48hrs. While we are unable to control what we do not know, please make sure you are keeping your swimmer home if this is the case so that we can all stay healthy.

This week we focused on getting comfortable being uncomfortable. There were group changes, and we have put a lot of yardage in. Keep it up! The swimmers of the week this week are below. Congratulations to all! We will meet on Monday at the dive tank bleachers to recognize them and talk about the week ahead.

Breakfast Fundraiser Success.

Thank you for helping make our first Applebee’s Breakfast fundraiser a success! It was great to see so many Sharks families enjoying breakfast together and helping make Champs posters. This was an awesome fundraiser that raised $1,639. We intend to continue this fundraiser, so if you missed today, we’ll see you there next season😊

Our ice cream winning age group are the 15-18’s with 37 breakfast tickets sold! Guess our big Sharks are little Sharks when it comes to an ice cream incentive😄

Parent Reminders:

  • Please take a moment to go thru the team website calendar and declare your swimmers meet attendance. There’s also the capability to leave a note, like if your swimmer will be leaving early so coach knows to not put them in a later event or relay. Just note the time your swimmer is leaving. Click HERE to get to our calendar.
  • Please help remind your swimmer to put their equipment away at the end of their practice. Kick boards & pull buoys have been left at lanes or tossed by the cart, all left for coaches to put away.
  • Wheels on deck is becoming a problem. As a reminder, swimmers can WALK their scooter or bike to the bike rack, they may NOT ride on any part of the deck.
  • If you have a “hand me down” or new swim item you’re looking to donate or sell…checkout the “featured” post in our Facebook group. It’s your one stop shop for off loading or finding a new to you swim necessity😁

  • Foodraiser Wednesday!

Foodraiser Wednesday is at the homemade eats from Panchito!

Everything is delicious here, homemade tortillas, salsas and everything in between. Give yourself some extra time since everything is made in house.
