Coaches Corner:

Hello Sharks! We are flying (literally it is butterfly week!) into week 4! It has been 3 weeks of so much hard work! I am so proud of each and everyone of you! This week our theme will be "doing it right, not fast". Some of us have that competitive fire and want to be first at the wall during practice, but what good is being first if in the end we are going to get disqualified and that time won't count at all? Doing a stroke correctly will help us get better, prevent injury, increase endurance by saving energy, and build good swimming habits. Starting and finishing at the wall, not standing on the bottom of the pool, and making sure we make the changes coach asks will help us ALL get better.

"I come to practice every day with the mindset that I am there to get better." - Caleb Dressel

Last week's theme was "we CAN do hard things" and we will recognize swimmers who rose up and exemplified that challenge.

6U • Reese - even with her allergies making breathing really difficult she showed up everyday and worked so hard!

7/8 • Yevgeny - those big freestyle arms and side breathing are looking super good! Keep up the hard work!

9/10 • Paris V - or pink Paris as we call her, has been working so hard on her strokes and corrections. Finishing laps the entire practice has been amazing to see!

11/12 • Stephan K - he has been working on getting those strokes right and gives 100% during practice!

13/14 • Alaiya P - showed up every day this week and did the hard work to get her strokes right. But, she practiced starts like a pro this week.

15-18 • Amaya Z - has shown, so early into the season, that doing hard things may not be so hard. Whether it’s a challenging set or something completely new, she never fails to try her hardest with no complaints! Thank you so much for all your hard work and dedication so far this year, Amaya.

Goals:

This week I'd love to hear from the 9/10s on their goals! Please email to [email protected].

1. What are your goals before time trials?

2. What are your goals for the season?

3. Why do you swim?

4. What is the one thing that is most difficult for you in the pool?

On Monday swimmers aged 7 and up will get their gear and meet in the dive tank bleachers again. Please help us by reminding your swimmer to head that way.

Parents, the team swim suit will wear out quickly if worn to practice and should be saved for meets only. Swim trunks are not recommended for practice, as they restrict movement and give the swimmer drag/resistance, which will make them tire more quickly. Our team store has suggestions for practice suits.
